| dc.description.abstract | El objetivo del trabajo fue realizar una caracterización del sistema productivo de tacaco (Sechium tacaco). La investigación se desarrolló en los cantones de Paraíso y Alvarado, provincia de Cartago, Costa Rica, entre setiembre de 2021 y diciembre de 2022. Se realizaron 15 entrevistas semiestructuradas a productores de tacaco, sobre diversos temas relacionados con el sistema de producción de esta hortaliza. Se obtuvieron datos sobre: siembra, tutorado, época de siembra, poda y deshoja, fertilización, combate de plagas y enfermedades, riego, rotación y asociación de cultivos, cosecha, poscosecha, y comercialización. Se concluye que la producción de tacaco está en manos de pequeños productores, los cuales cuentan con un importante acervo cultural relacionado con la producción de esta hortaliza. Este trabajo constituye el primer estudio sobre la caracterización del sistema productivo de tacaco en Costa Rica. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The objective of the work was to carry out a characterization of the tacaco (Sechium tacaco) production system. The research was carried out in the cantons of Paraíso and Alvarado, province of Cartago, Costa Rica, between September 2021 and December 2022. 15 semistructured interviews were conducted with tacaco growers on various topics related to the production system of this vegetable. Data was obtained on: planting, staking, planting time, pruning and leaf removal, fertilization, pest and disease control, irrigation, crop rotation and association, harvest, post-harvest, and marketing. It is concluded that the production of tacaco is in the hands of small growers, who have an important cultural heritage related to the production of this vegetable. This work constitutes the first study on the characterization of the tacaco production system in Costa Rica. | |
