Abstract
razas especializadas (Holstein o Jersey).
The aim was to realize a survey about the perception, the types of studies and the use that academics (A), researchers (I) (group 1), farmers (P) and technical advisors (T) (group 2) have on the Dairy Tropical Creole breed (CLT) in Latin America. Two hundred questionnaires were sent to the personnel of agricultural institutions, professional service providers and livestock farmers using Google.doc tools. Forty two responses were obtained from A and I and 29 from P and T of 10 Latin American countries. The information collected was analyzed with SAS for descriptive statistics and contingency tables. For both groups, the main breeds are the Criollo Lechero Centroamericano, Barroso and Doran in Central America; Carora and Limonero in Venezuela; Costeño con Cuernos (CCC), Hartón del Valle (HV), Lucerna (L) and Blanco Oreginegro (BON) in Colombia. Ninety percent of A and I considered that the CLT breeds have resistance and adaptability to the environment which allows the production of milk with low-quality pasture in addition besides to exhibit more longevity, meekness and milk of quality. Meanwhile, 97% of T and P considered that these breeds show rusticity and adaptability as well as the possibility of crossing with other breeds to obtain resistance to the environment. However both groups agreed that the uses of CLT breeds are very low, due to lack of information and disclosure of the same, besides not being. In addition considered that these breeds are not a commercial livestock and it volume of production volume was
