Existe gran confusión entre las especies de Stanhopea por su gran variabilidad en la forma. la coloración y el tamallo. En el presente trabajo logramos determinar. mediante el análisis estadístico de las medidas de las diferentes partes florales, que el mes de floración, el ancho de los sépalos y del hipoquilo y el largo del labelo son las medidas que más contribuyen a diferenciar las especies S. wardii, S. costaricensis. S. warscewicziana y S. gibbosa
There is great taxonomic .confussion between Stanhopea species, due to variability in flower shape, color and size. Using statistical analysis fqr measures of flower parts we deteruúned that the blooming month, sepa! width, lip length and "hipoquile" width help to distinguish between S. wardií, S. castaricensis, S. warscewicziana and S. gibbasa.
