Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present the results of a teaching experience developed at the School of Electrical Engineering of the University of Costa Rica, designed to integrate research and social action activities with the theoretical contents of a Higher Mathematics course. This experience has been developed by the integration of current projects in the School of Electrical Engineering, as well as multidisciplinary collaboration with other areas, such as Special Education. The motivation of the experience has been to promote meaningful learning in students, with the integration of the substantive areas of the university: teaching, research, and social action. Given the favorable perception of the students and the teacher in the activity, it is suggested to open new spaces for reflection and analysis in other areas of specialty, in order to bring the results of current projects and multidisciplinary work to the classrooms. In this way, the problems of research and social action can be exposed to the students, where the knowledge of the courses finds its application and reason for being.
