dc.descriptionhe Costa Rican biologist Clodomiro Picado Twight (1887-1944) did pioneering studies on the fauna inhabiting epiphytic bromeliads. In his student days, France was the mecca of many Latin American academic. For being recognized as an outstanding student, received a scholarship to study at the University of Paris (Sorbonne), where he studied among other biologists Cuénot Lucien (1866-1951) and Émile Guyenot (1885-1963). Of them acquired the interest in the study of the then new subject of organic evolution and the idea that to understand life was necessary to put in a double perspective: the external environment (the habitat of a species) and internal environment (physiology ).en-US
dc.descriptionEl biólogo costarricense Clodomiro Picado Twight (1887-1944) realizó estudios pioneros sobre la fauna que habita las bromeliáceas epífitas. En su época de estudiante, Francia era la meca académica de muchos latinoamericanos. Por ser reconocido como estudiante sobresaliente, recibió una beca para estudiar en la Universidad de París (La Sorbona), donde fue alumno entre otros de los biólogos Lucien Cuénot (1866-1951) y Émile Guyénot (1885- 1963). De ellos adquirió el interés por el estudio del entonces novedoso tema de la evolución orgánica y la idea de que para comprender la vida era necesario ubicarla en una perspectiva doble: el ambiente externo (el hábitat de una especie) y el ambiente interno (su fisiología).es-ES
