Abstract
They call them “Road Warriors.” It’s a romantic-sounding title for today’s business traveler that brings up images of rugged men and women deftly navigating the perils, challenges and setbacks of international travel. In truth, these “Road Warriors” are actually hundreds of thousands of stressed-out individuals who face far too many problems each day and have simply learned to cope with the complications that their frequent travel brings to their lives. As a frequent business traveler himself, Dr. Luis Fernando Aragón understands the impact that being away from home so often can have on a person’s family and home life. He also knows about the many temptations that the modern traveler faces and how frequent travel can pose serious risks to one’s spiritual life. In Pilgrim: One Thousand Days on the Road, he offers reflections on some of his own personal toils while traveling and offers insights on how to overcome temptation, protect yourself spiritually before you leave home, persevere in even the most trying situations, interpret challenges in the light of God’s Word, and always maintain your focus on the final destination, not the travel experience. If you or someone you love is a frequent business traveler, this book is for you! Dr. Luis Fernando Aragón is a husband, father of two, and thirty-year member of Tree of Life Christian Community in San José, Costa Rica. He is a university professor of exercise science and for eleven years also worked as a consultant, where he was required to spend more than a quarter of the year traveling internationally. He is happy to offer his travel experiences, his speaking ability, and his faith, to support Christians who fly regularly because of business.
