Autoeficacia en la búsqueda y administración del tratamiento en pacientes con lepra Costa Rica

Abstract

Resumen: El objetivo de la presente investigación fueidentificar la autoeficacia relacionada con la búsqueda y con la administración del tratamiento en pacientes con lepra o que han padecido lepra,basados en el Modelo Creencias en Salud en Costa Rica.Esteestudio encontró que las personas participantes poseenexpectativas de la situación, de resultado y autoeficacia percibida en la búsqueda y administración del tratamiento. Las personas participantes atribuyeron diversas causas a la lepra. En primer lugar, se contemplaron las causas relacionadas con factores externos al comportamiento de la persona y, por ello, creen que no podrían evitar su aparición.Todos los participantes refirieron que actualmente las personas no fallecen a causa de la lepra porque hay tratamiento.Cumplir con el tratamiento fue la principal expectativa para tratar la enfermedad. Como conclusionesse obtienen que las intervenciones que mejoran la autoeficacia deberían ser prioridad, puesto que permitirá a las personas vencer las barreras, comenzando con la atención aguda, atención primaria y el cumplimiento del tratamiento

Abstract: The aim of this research is to Identify self-efficacy related to search and administration of treatment in patients with leprosy or who have suffered from leprosy,based on Health Belief Model in Costa Rica.Methodology: a qualitative study was carried out, using in-depth semi-structured interview technique based on leprosy diagnosis and treatment in sociodemographic, social and cultural context.The study found that participants have situation expectations of outcomes and perceived self-efficacy in treatment seeking and administration. The participants in this study attributed various causes to leprosy, on the one hand, causes related to factors external to the person's behavior and, therefore, they believe that they could not prevent its appearance. All participants made reference that nowadays, people do not die from leprosy because there is a treatment. Treatment compliance was the main expectation for treating the disease.Interventions that improve self-efficacy should be a priority since it will allow people to overcome barriers, starting with acute care, primary care and treatment compliance.
