Abstract
Esta investigación analiza la acción mediadora de las docentes en la carrera de Educación Preescolar de la Universidad de Costa Rica, sede Rodrigo Facio, entre 1994 y 2021. El estudio se centra en cómo la formación universitaria influyó en la decisión de los estudiantes varones de continuar o abandonar la carrera docente en educación inicial, a partir de sus propias experiencias y las percepciones del personal docente. Se contextualiza la participación masculina en la educación preescolar, se describe el desarrollo histórico de la carrera en la UCR y se presenta el problema de investigación, que se aborda desde la metodología basada en un enfoque fenomenológico, hermenéutico e interpretativo, con el uso de la investigación narrativa como estrategia principal. Se presenta el análisis de los datos recolectados mediante entrevistas en profundidad y observación participante, y los datos se expresan en forma de narración por la investigadora. Finalmente, se ofrece las conclusiones y recomendaciones basadas en los hallazgos obtenidos a lo largo del estudio.
This research analyzes the mediating role of female teachers in the Early Childhood Education program at the University of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Facio Campus, between 1994 and 2021. The study focuses on how university education influenced male students' decisions to continue or abandon early childhood education teaching, based on their own experiences and the perceptions of the teaching staff. It contextualizes male participation in early childhood education, describes the historical development of the program at the UCR, and presents the research problem, which is addressed using a methodology based on a phenomenological, hermeneutic, and interpretive approach, with narrative research as the primary strategy. The analysis of data collected through in-depth interviews and participant observation is presented, and the data are expressed in the form of a narrative by the researcher. Finally, conclusions and recommendations are offered based on the findings obtained throughout the study.
