RESUMEN
Antecedentes
La incontinencia urinaria se define como la condición en la que la pérdida involuntaria de orina constituye un problema higiénico-social que impacta de manera importante la calidad de vida. Existen diferentes tipos de incontinencia urinaria, este estudio se enfoca en el tratamiento de la incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo, con cabestrillo mediouretral.
Método
Se realizó un estudio prospectivo observacional descriptivo, en el que se incluyeron 94 pacientes con diagnóstico de incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo, que se sometieron a colocación de malla sub uretral como tratamiento quirúrgico.
Resultados
Se evidenció mejoría estadísticamente significativa e incluso resolución completa en el 93% de la muestra en estudio. No se logró evidenciar diferencia de efectividad entre minisling y TOT. Se presentó fallo terapéutico en siete de los sujetos en estudio. Además, se reportaron dos casos en los que se presentaron complicaciones transoperatorias, en específico, lesión vesical.
Conclusión
Se concluye que la colocación de malla sub uretral es un procedimiento efectivo y seguro para tratamiento de la incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo.
ABSTRACT Background Urinary incontinence is defined as the condition in which involuntary urine loss is a hygienic-social problem that has a remarkable impact in quality of life. There are different types of urinary incontinence, this study focuses on the treatment of stress urinary incontinence, with miduretral sling. Methods A descriptive prospective observational study was conducted, including 94 patients diagnosed with stress urinary incontinence, who underwent sub urethral mesh placement as a surgical treatment. Results Significant improvement or complete resolution of symptomatology was evident in 93% for study population. There wasn’t evidence of difference in effectiveness between mini-sling or TOT. Therapeutic failure occurred in seven of the population studied. In addition, two cases were reported in which transoperative complications occurred, in particular, bladder injury. Conclusions It is concluded that suburethral mesh placement is an effective and safe procedure for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence.
