In this case reference is made to about 5000 artifacts Brooklyn Museum acquired in 1930s. This work has allowed to relevant information about funerary patterns, types of burials, and the association of a series of pre-Hispanic artefacts, linked to diverse activities that people carried out circa 2000 years ago. The point of departure is the akan ethnic groups known as the akan, whose territory is located in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Togo. Then, text is related to the arrival of the akan to the Caribbean, specifically to Jamaica, as a result of the world powers participation in the slave trade on the West Africa’s coasts. Finally, the article approaches the diasporization of the Anancy Stories to the Colombian and Costa Rican territories.Ítem La rebelión de los indígenas bajo la dirección de Pablo Presbere (Talamanca 1709-1710)(2012-09-21 15:15:17) Solórzano Fonseca, Juan CarlosThis article analyzes the indigenous rebellion in Talamanca under the leadership of Pablo Prebere and Pedro Comesala in September of 1709. This uprising is analyzed in the historical context of the region prior to the rebellion and in relation to the pressure exerted by the Misquito indians, allied with the English, and by other indigenous groups on the Talamancan indians. It offers ethnological information on the Talamancan populations and examines both the organization of the indigenous insurgency and the Spanish repression in the region. Finally it examines the figure of Pablo Presbere as the the most important symbol of resistance for the Costa Rican Indians against outside aggression.Ítem Elementos para el estudio de una migración antigua: el caso de los Chorotega-Mangue(2012-09-21 15:15:17) Salgado González, Silvia; Fernández León, ElisaHere we conduct a conceptual exercise, using already documented cases from Northwestern Costa Rica and Pacific Nicaragua, to present an interpretative model of how the migration process of the Chorotega-Mangue could have taken place. They represented a threat to the inhabitants of the areas they settled upon, as a menace to territories or other resources. They threatened the Votos, Ramas from northern Costa Rica and vicinities, and the Huetares of central Costa Rica. This paper explores the sociopolitical relationships established by the multicultural actors in this mesh, during the late sixteenth century and the seventeenth century, including alliances made by different cacicazgos in the area.Ítem Mesoamericanos en la Bahía de Culebra, noroeste de Costa Rica(2012-09-21 15:15:17) Solís Del Vecchio, Felipe; Herrera Villalobos, AnayensyArchaeological research carried out at the Jícaro site located in NW Costa Rica by a population whose sociocultural practices and physical characteristics ties it to the Mesoamerican migrants mentioned in the XVI century. The findings are compared to others at the Bay of Culebra in order to discuss changes wrought by the Mesoamerican inmigrants as well as continuities product of interaction among populations of different historical identities.Ítem Mesoamericanos en la Bahía de Culebra, noroeste de Costa Rica(2012-09-21 15:15:17) Solís Del Vecchio, Felipe; Herrera Villalobos, AnayensyInvestigaciones arqueológicas en el sitio Jícaro, noroeste de Costa Rica, permiten reconocer una comunidad donde viven individuos con características físicas y costumbres que los relacionan con los inmigrantes mesoamericanos documentados en el siglo XVI. Los indicios pueden ser considerados como indicadores para contrastar la información de la Bahía de Culebra y tener una mejor comprensión de la dinámica sociocultural en la costa norte de Guanacaste.
