Ítem Tipologías de la proscripción visual.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Sanabria Sing, CarolinaThe following article attempts to systematize the main forms or typologies of visual proscription which, throughout history, have been banned from visual imagery to a greater or lesser extent. Thus, this work formalizes four basic types linked to what essentially concerns the display of the human body. Being so, they originate from subjective attitudes (narcissism and voyeurism), as well as from the representations that have to do with explicit sex (the pornographic convention) and the conventional image of death.Ítem "Para que la gente se enteren" La concordancia ad sensum en español oral.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Sánchez Avendaño, CarlosThis article describes the phenomenon of semantic agreement in two cases: collective nouns and subjects formed by a complex nominal group. It is shown how agreement ad sensum is not a speaker's mistake or a lack of linguistic expertise, but a possibility of Spanish grammatical system, where speakers in some cases choose formal agreement (following morphological criteria) and in others they choose semantic agreement (following semantic and textual criteria).Ítem Reliable And Practical Guidelines For Planning An Effective English Lesson.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Solís Hernández, MayraThe aim of this article is to help student teachers develop their planning skills and to provide insight into lesson preparation. This article presents reliable and practical guidelines to prepare effective English lessons. These basic principles have arisen from my seven-year experience teaching the practicum for the Master's program in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the University of Costa Rica. A lesson plan format is also suggested as a useful tool for both trainees and teacher trainers in the field of English teaching. This template has proven to be very useful during the Practicum and has been highly recommended by the trainees in this program.Ítem Reconstrucción fonológica del pidgin afroportugués americano: La s vocales.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Portilla Chaves, MarioThis article provides the proto-vowel reconstruction of an Afro-Portuguese pidgin spoken in the Americas in the XVII Century according to the principles of the Historical Comparative Method.Ítem El mensaje presidencial costarricense desde la etnografía de la comunicación.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Jara Murillo, Carla VictoriaThe goal of this article is to describe a particular communicative act, namely the last speech given by the president on May 1st. to the Congress. An ethnographic description is proposed on the basis of the methodology first established by Dell Hymes, and applying later developments of the ethnography of communication.Ítem Nostalgia, guerra civil y franquismo en la narrativa española de finales del siglo XX.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Muñoz, MarianelaIn this article one will attempt to analyze how with a nostalgic attitude the Spanish narrative of the 80's and 90's returns to the past: the Spanish Civil War years and the Franco era. There is a place for memory in this literature where the valuation of the facts has a double meaning. These texts dissolve the limits between personal and collective memory, upon reviewing and writing the period of the infant years, ("day dreams" for Freud or "gold age" for Bachelard) with its equivalence to the time of the Spanish War and Post War ("demythologization" for Navajas).Ítem El reto metanarrativo en Conspiración de Gloria Elena Espinoza de Tercero.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Jiménez, Luis A.Conspiración, the most recent novel of Gloria Elena Espinoza de Tercero, is a typical example of metafiction. In this study, we analyze the relationship of the narrator with (1) América, the protagonist who claims her autonomy in the text (2) the real characters who communicate with the narrator by means of e-mails and (3) the writer, who implicitly claims her authorship and ignores the challenge of the narrative voice.Ítem Lengua, norma y medios de comunicación.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Barahona Novoa, AlbertoThis paper examines the connection among language, standard and mass media to better understand how mass media fosters prestigious and standardized linguistics. At the Hispanic level, the development of regulatory policies among social communicators has been quite successful to maintain a common standard throughout the vast Spanish-speaking geography. The main principles, presented as guidelines, are examined in detail. The most important research undertaken in Costa Rica on linguistic variability in written press and radio is also examined.Ítem Mujer, política y música: dos textos olvidados de Yolanda Oreamuno.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Sánchez Mora, AlexánderThe discovery of the essay ¿Puede la mujer tener los mismos derechos políticos que el hombre? (1932) pushes back the initial date of the literary activity of Yolanda Oreamuno and provides an understanding of the process of her intellectual maturation. The chronicle, Su música (1937), published by the journal La Hora, allows one to better understand the strong political commitment of the young writer.Ítem Arquitectura poética y ascensión musical: Yolanda Oreamuno en concierto con Eunice Odio.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Chen Sham, Jorgen as much sculptural and architectonic representation, the power of the call of poetry unfolds by means of tactile or visual sensations upon molding and giving form to a material within the space of a page. In addition, poetry can, with language, carve out a human figure or raise a building. Yolanda Oreamuno and Eunice Odio understand how to manage proportion, perspective and volume as capable architects in the two texts that we put in concert. "Eight O'clock Mass" and "The Path of Fire" respectively.Ítem La angustia del insomnio (entre un abrir y cerrar de ojos).(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Herrera Ávila, TatianaThe following article studies the angst for the uncanny in the short story "Insomnio", by Yolanda Oreamuno. Parting form Freud's concept of the Unheimlich, there are several elements that transform the protagonist's insomnia into an angst attack: the night is alive, it pulsates and observes; there is a dissociation of her body, the inanimate lives and even dies; there are voices and hallucinations. In this manner, the horizontal position in the darkness refers to the premature burial, which provokes an angst attack in the protagonist.Ítem "La lagartija de la panza blanca" de Yolanda Oreamuno: Una lectura desde la voz narrativa.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Caamaño Morúa, VirginiaThis article establishes a dialogue between Yolanda Oreamuno'short story and three of her essays in order to point out the coherence of costarrican author's ethic and aesthetic vision.Ítem El umbral sagrado (Entre la experiencia mística y el ritual pagano).(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Campos Ocampo, MelvinThis article analyzes the ambiguity of the mystical experience suffered by the narrative instance in the short story "Misa de ocho", by Yolanda Oreamuno. This ambiguity is produced because the Christian mystical rapture is tainted by paganism: the rite becomes intimate through physically sensitive elements (light, colour, music), and ends in a dancing outburst that is very close to an erotic rapture. Thus, it is a non Catholic epiphany, rather than one related to pre- Christian religions, linked to the Earth, the feminine, the physical and the erotic.Ítem Relación entre historia, epistemología y ética : Una lectura de Yolanda Oreamuno a la luz de su obra ensayística.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) González Muñoz, IreneThe present article makes a new approach, specifically, on some of the essays written by Yolanda Oreamuno, with the purpose of analyzing some of the main ideas that this writer developed about the idiosyncrasy of costaricans, the role of art, and particularly the role of literature, in the society of her time.Ítem La comparación como recurso crítico en "El espíritu de mi tierra".(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Vargas Vargas, José ÁngelThis article analyzes the text "The Spirit of My Land" with the intent of determining of what the critical vision consists that Yolanda Oreamuno constructs around farmers. Forms of comparison are studied as presented by the text, and emphasizes the selection of the insect called the cicada as the principle generating nucleus of semiosis. The analysis allows as well to observe the discursive elaboration of a contradictory image of the farmer than what has predominated in the works of other authors in Costa Rican literature in the last three decades of the twentieth century, principally, through a ideological fracture which affects the collective national imagery.Ítem Del regionalismo a la vanguardia en la narrativa centroamericana: Flavio Herrera y Yolanda Oreamuno.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Rodríguez Cascante, FranciscoThis article defends the hypothesis that Central American literature of the first part of the twentieth century established two receptive modalities for the vanguard: one from a regional perspective which constructed procedures of textual hybridization, and therefore, two integrated representational universes. And on the other hand, rejecting regionalism, and from that distancing, it assumed the mechanisms of those of the vanguard and procured the autonomy of the language in as much as the esthetic paradigm. Both writing models constitute the horizon of the two textual formations that are designed what has been called the literary rebirth of the second part of the twentieth century. I exemplify this discussion with a comparative analysis of the texts of Flavio Herrera and Yolanda Oreamuno, the most well known of this first model, whereas that of the author indebted to the second.Ítem Yo o las trampas de la biografía.(2012-09-04 00:00:00) Mackenbach, WernerThis essay proposes a new lecture of Yolanda Oreamuno's work that may overcome its canonization based on "biographist" and "contentist" approaches and the supposed identity of work and life, which have dominated in the critic up to the moment. One possible lecture which meets these requisites -and which is being realized in this article- could be one of his novel La ruta de su evasión from the perspective of literary geography, that means, a lecture which in contrast to Manuel Picado Gómez's classification of the text as a novel of personage and not a novel of space, analyzes the space of and in this novel in four dimensions: the representation of physical spaces, the signifying of physical spaces, the text as space and the literary space between the author, the work and the readers.
