Abstract
El sociólogo francés Pierre Bourdieu establece que la forma de analizar la creación de un determinado campo es,
sin duda, el análisis de la historia de tal campo. Al partir de esta premisa este artículo busca recorrer el quehacer de
la dramaturgia costarricense y enfocarlo en los últimos veinticinco años. Primero se recorre las prácticas de fin del
siglo XIX y la primera mitad del siglo XX en pos de la profesionalización. Segundo, se discute acerca del el cambio
en el paradigma en la producción dramática costarricense. Tercero, se examina una dramaturgia que re-visita la
historia costarricense en busca de referentes. Cuarto, se establece algunas de las características de la dramaturgia
de fines del siglo XX e inicios del XXI, para finalizar con unas reflexiones finales.

Based upon the premise this article studies 25-years of Costa Rican drama. First, I discuss theatrical practices in search of professionalizing the field, starting at late 19th Century and the first decades in the 20th Century. Secondly, I discuss changes in the paradigm of drama production in Costa Rica. Third, I examine a tendency that revisits history for inspiration. Finally, characteristics of the field are established for late 20th and early 21st Century.
