Determinación de la intensidad y época óptima de aclareo de frutas de melocotón (Prunus persica L.) cv, Big Boston

Abstract

En Fraijanes, Alajuela, se llevó a cabo un experimento entre diciembre de 1981, y junio de 1982, con el objetivo de estudiar el efecto de la época y de la intensidad de aclareo manual de frutas de melocotón (Prunus persica) sobre el tamaño y peso de la fruta, así como sobre el peso total de la cosecha. Se dejaron 4, 8 y 12 frutas por metro de rama en la floración, a una y tres semanas después de ocurrida la caída de los pétalos. No se presentaron diferencias por efecto del momento de realizar el aclareo, en el peso total de la cosecha. El número de frutos por rama, sí modificó el tamaño y peso promedio de la fruta. La fruta de mayor tamaño y peso se obtuvo al dejar 12 frutas, una semana después de la caída de los pétalos.

Determination of the intensity and optimum time for thinning fruits of peach (Prunus persica L.) cv. Big Boston. In Fraijanes, Alajuela, an experiment was conducted between December 1981 and June 1982, to study the effect of the time and intensity of hand thinning of peach fruits on the size and weight of fruit and total yield. Four, eight and twelve fruits per meter of branch, were left at the stage of blooming and one and three weeks after petal fall. No differences were found as a result of the time of thinning on total yield, but the number of fruits per branch modified its mean weight and size. The largest fruits were obtained when twelve fruits were left per meter of branch one week after petal fall.
