Abstract

This essay focuses primarily on the border crossing between Ventimiglia (Italy) and Menton (France). This time and space are significant, as it is a place with a policy of return or expulsion. It was called the Route of the Dead because of the impossibility of crossing the border by other points near the border post. This essay examines the government's management of return migration policy while revisiting the experience of the main documented problems on migration within the framework of the European Union associated with the relationship between security companies and how they shaped the approach to migration, the known forms that modulate the criteria for return and the treatment of the humanitarian and solidarity practices at these train and street borders.
