The objective of this study was to evaluate the response of annual ryegrass cv. The study was carried out from June 15, 2017 through February 15, 2018 in two areas of the province of Cartago, county Oreamuno (09 ° 57,442 'N, 083 ° 49,951' W, farm A [2.800 m.a.s.l.] and 09 ° 54.839 'N, 083 ° 50.058' W, farm B [2.000 m.a.s.l.]). We applied rates equivalent to 200 kg N.ha-1 and 13.49 kg S.ha-1 and the forage harvested at 60 days regrowth. Samples were analyzed by the number of shoots, green leaves per shoot and structural components (percentage of leaves, stems and senescence) within the pasture. Both the number of shoots and green leaves per shoot were significantly higher (p <0.05) in August with respect to February. The percentage of leaf was higher in February compared to August (p <0.05) while the percentages of stem and senescence remained constant thorough the study period. No significant differences were found for any variable evaluated as a result of the nitrogen fertilizer used.
