Pese que en la actualidad existen dispositivos que nos reproducen de forma instantánea un paisaje que se está analizando, estos dispositivos deben ser regulados siempre que se pretenda enseñar en el campo elementos del paisaje que son creados por el proceso que se está estudiando in situ. Dispositivos tales como la fotografía digital son muy usados para ilustrar las evidencias obtenidas de campo sobre ciertos procesos, tales como la inestabilidad de laderas; sin embargo, dichos dispositivos no aseguran al docente que la o el estudiante observó lo que la persona encargada de la gira le indicó que viera y describiera.
