The present research aimed to demonstrate the effect of a recreational program of orientation activities on decision-making ability in adolescent individuals, specifically high school students aged 15 to 17 years from Liceo Laboratorio Emma Gamboa, located in San Vicente de Moravia. The sample consisted of 66 participants, of which 35 belonged to the experimental group. They underwent a pre-test, participated in a recreational program of orientation activities for six sessions (one per week) lasting 80 minutes each, and then took a post-test. The remaining 31 participants formed the control group, which did not take part in the program but continued with their regular schedule. They also underwent pre-test and post test in the same weeks as the experimental group. The study followed a quasi-experimental quantitative design, with the dependent variable being decision-making, measured using the Melbourne Decision-Making Questionnaire. Data analysis involved a two-way repeated measures ANOVA for each of the factors. The study examined different decision-making patterns and found no significant changes in vigilance, hypervigilance, or procrastination. However, there was a significant change in the transfer pattern, which led to post hoc analysis of simple effects. The results revealed that the experimental group had a higher tendency to transfer their decisions to others in the pre-test compared to the control group (p<0.05). After participating in the recreational activities, the experimental group showed a decrease in their tendency to transfer decisions (p<0.05), while the control group, on the other hand, showed an increase in the transfer pattern in the post-test. Statistically significant changes were also found from pre-test to post-test in both the experimental group (p<0.01) and the control group (p<0.01). This interaction is approached with caution due to the statistical difference that existed from the beginning between the pre test of the experimental group and the pre-test of the control group regarding transfer. It is worth noting that this research also provides a theoretical foundation that delves into orientation activities, recreation, decision-making, and adolescence, as well as the potential relationships between these topics.
