A multi-sectorial approach for addressing the problem of snakebite envenoming in Honduras

Abstract

This letter describes a multi-sectorial initiative in Honduras aimed at addressing the public health problem of snakebite envenoming. It highlights the coordinated efforts of governmental health authorities, universities, medical organizations, NGOs, and international institutions to improve prevention, clinical management, antivenom distribution, and professional training. The authors emphasize that collaborative work and political commitment are essential to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with snakebites, and propose this approach as a model for other Latin American countries facing similar challenges.
