| dc.description | Going to the cinema -or to a ‘theatre’- in the city of Limon, was a whole ritual in the fifties and sixties, with dressings, special food and beverages for the occasion and after that, the romance in the park. Ali Baba and the Forty thieves, The Monster of the Black Lake, King Kong, The Naughty Boys of Spain and Daniel Santos made their presence at the white screens and the stages of the cinemas and nowadays form part of the mythology of Limon. More than the film, the public was the spectacle: the whole room celebrated the fights and the heroic deeds of the stars at the screen with exclamations while peeling and eating peanuts. At the end of the show, the room was a space covered with peanut shells. | dc.description | Ir al cine -o al “teatro”- en la ciudad de Limón era todo un ritual en los años cincuentas y sesentas, con atuendos, comidas y bebidas especiales para la ocasión y luego el romance en el parque. Alí Babá y los 40 Ladrones, El Monstruo de la Laguna Negra, King Kong, Los Churumbeles de Españay Daniel Santos, desfilaron por las pantallas y los escenarios de las salas de cine y hoy son parte de la mitología limonense. Más que la película, el espectáculo era el público: el cine entero festejaba con exclamaciones las peleas o las hazañas de los personajes en la pantalla al mismo tiempo que partía y comía maní. Al final de la proyección, la sala era un campo cubierto por cáscaras de maní.
