dc.description.abstractNuestro propósito en este artículo es hacer un breve análisis de la evolución semántico- sintáctica del gerundio español, desde sus orígenes latinos hasta finales de la época clásica. Tomamos la palabra evolución en su más amplio sentido para tratar de hacer ver cómo el gerundio ablativo latino, usado restringidamente en sus orígenes, va tomando, a través del tiempo, una serie de matices, funciones, significados, formas estructurales, etc., hasta convertirse en un verdadero problema lingüistico.
