dc.descriptionn este trabajo se describen varios aportes realizados por el geocientífico alemán Alexander von Frantzius en varias geociencias. Frantzius fue pionero en la exploración y descripción del entorno geológico y geomorfológico de varias regiones en Costa Rica en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Asociado a su labor de médico también exploró el valle del río Reventazón, Pirris y Tempisque en los cuales además de las descripciones de las rocas aflorantes describía aspectos geomorfológicos, hidrológicos e hidrogeológicos. Aunque los caminos eran de difícil acceso este investigador logró plasmar sus hallazgos en varios artículos publicados en idioma alemán y luego traducidos al español varias décadas despuéses-ES
dc.descriptionIn this work it will be describe the contribution to the geosciences from the German scientific Alexander von Frantzius, who was pioneer in the exploration and description of the geological and geomorphological environmental of some regions in Costa Rica in the second half of the XIX century. Joined to his medical activities he explored the Reventazón river, Pirris and Tempisque valley and described the outcrops of rocks, and hidrological, hidrogeological and geomorphological features of them. These descriptions were presented through articles in journals in German language and translated in Spanish some decades lateren-US
