dc.description	This article about Gallegos's play proposes the interpretation of the intra-textual elements to determine some extra-textual circumstances that identify social, cultural and economic conditions of patriarchal 1925 Costa Rica, wherethe play is set and those experienced in 1964, when it is published. These are reflected in a number of situations whichalter the relationships between the characters that inhabit La casa. The moral and generational struggle unleashedamong some members of the family, composed by the widow and her four children, seeks to subvert the power of thename of the father, leading to family quarrels in which the mother loses the domain she previously exercised overthe life of her children. In the end, the renewed appearance of the house hides the moral and social decompositionof those who occupy it, in a parallel to the crisis in the country.	en-US
dc.description	En este artículo sobre la obra de Gallegos se propone la lectura de los elementos intratextuales para determinaralgunas circunstancias extratextuales que identifican condiciones sociales, culturales y económicas propias de laCosta Rica patriarcal de 1925 fecha en que se ambienta la obra y las vividas en 1964, cuando es publicada, lascuales se ven plasmadas en una serie de situaciones que alteran las relaciones entre los personajes que habitan Lacasa. La lucha moral y generacional por subvertir el poder que el nombre del padre otorga, desatada entre algunosmiembros de la familia compuesta por la madre viuda y sus cuatro hijos, desemboca en rencillas familiares envirtud de las cuales la madre pierde totalmente el dominio ejercido anteriormente sobre la vida de sus hijos. Alfinal, la apariencia renovada de la casa esconde la descomposición moral y social de quienes la ocupan, paralelacon la sucedida en el país.	es-ES
