Calidad y consumo de sorgo negro forrajero (Sorghum almum), ramio (Bohemeria nivea (L) Gaud) y mezcla de ambos

Abstract

Se evaluó y se comparó el consumo de sorgo negro forrajero y ramio en nueve cabras de raza La Mancha, no gestantes y no lactantes, con un peso promedio de 38 (±2) kg, distribuidas en un diseño de cuadrado latino 3 x 3 repetido. Los tratamientos experimentales fueron: a) dieta única de sorgo negro, b) dieta única de ramio y c) mezcla 50-50 de sorgo negro más ramio. El sorgo negro tenía una edad de rebrote de 70 días y el ramio de 56 días. El forraje se suministró en forma fresca picada (tallos y hojas). Cada animal recibió una ración de 14% de su peso vivo. Se recolectaron muestras del material ofrecido y rechazado para el análisis de materia seca, proteína cruda y fibra neutro detergente. Se observaron diferencias significativas (P<0,01) para el consumo de forraje fresco, materia seca, proteína cruda y fibra neutro detergente. La ingestión de materia seca para los diferentes tratamientos se encontró dentro del rango reportado en la literatura y fue de 0,90; 0,97 y 1,65% del peso vivo para las diferentes dietas, respectivamente. Con los consumos de proteína cruda obtenidos con la dieta de ramio y la mezcla de sorgo más ramio, los animales cubrieron sus necesidades de mantenimiento. La dieta que presentó los mayores niveles de consumo de forraje verde, MS, proteína cruda y fibra neutro detergente fue la correspondiente a la mezcla de sorgo más ramio, seguida de la dieta de ramio.

Black sorghum and ramie fodder intake was evaluated and compared in nine non-pregnant and non-lactating La Mancha goats with an average live weight of 38 (±2) kg, distributed in a Latin square design 3 x 3 repeated. The experimental treatments were: a) black sorghum fodder, b) ramie fodder and c) 50-50 mixed black sorghum plus ramie. Black sorghum had 70 days and ramie 56 days of regrowth. The forage was given in a chopped form (stems and leaves). Each animal received a daily fresh ration corresponding to 14% of its live weight. Samples of offered and rejected material were gathered to analyze dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber content. Significant differences were found (P<0,01) for fresh forage, dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber intake. Dry matter intake for the different treatments was kept within the range reported in the literature (0,90; 0,97 and 1,65% of live weight for the different diets, respectively). Crude protein intake with ramie and black sorghum plus ramie, was enough to cover maintenance requirements. Fresh forage, dry matter, crude protein and neutral detergent fiber intake were higher for the black sorghum plus ramie diet, followed by the ramie diet.
