Efecto de la fertilización nitrogenada y la edad de rebrote sobre las características morfológicas y rendimiento agronómico del botón de oro (Tithonia diversifolia) ecotipo INTA-Quepos

Abstract

Se evaluaron variables morfológicas y de rendimiento agronómico del botón de oro ecotipo INTA-Quepos, a diferentes dosis de fertilización nitrogenada (0, 100 y 200 kg N/ha/año) y a 2 edades de cosecha (40 y 60 días). El experimento se llevó a cabo en el Pacífico Central de Costa Rica, a una altura de 15 msnm y en un suelo del orden Inceptisol; el período evaluado comprendió tanto época lluviosa como seca durante el año 2019. El diseño experimental correspondió a un factorial 3x2, con un total de 24 parcelas de 4 m2 distribuidas en 4 bloques. Las diferencias encontradas en las variables morfológicas de relación hoja:tallo, área foliar, altura de la planta y biomasa fueron explicadas por la interacción entre la edad y el nivel de nitrógeno aplicado. La biomasa mostró un efecto creciente sin importar la edad de cosecha evaluada a causa de la fertilización, este efecto se espera que sea mayor con un patrón de lluvias uniformes. Con respecto a las variables morfológicas (área foliar y altura de la planta), se encontraron diferencias significativas entre los diferentes tratamientos, siendo el tratamiento de 60 días de cosecha y 200 kg N/ha/año el que obtuvo los mayores valores (102 cm2 y 84 cm, respectivamente). Se concluye que el botón de oro (ecotipo INTA-Quepos) es una planta con un excelente potencial para la producción en zonas como las del presente estudio, además, con una respuesta a dosis nitrogenadas que vienen a mejorar características de interés.

Morphological and agronomic performance variables of the tree marigold ecotype INTA-Quepos were evaluated at different doses of nitrogen fertilization (0, 100 and 200 kg N/ ha/year) and at 2 harvest ages (40 and 60 days). The experiment was carried out in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica, at an altitude of 15 meters above sea level and in a soil of the order Inceptisol; the evaluated period comprised both rainy and dry seasons, during 2019. The experimental design corresponded to a 3x2 factorial, with a total of 24 plots of 4 m2 distributed in 4 blocks. The differences found in the morphological variables of leaf:stem relationship, leaf area, plant height and yield were explained by the interaction between age and the level of nitrogen applied. The yield showed an increasing effect regardless of the harvest age evaluated due to fertilization; this effect is expected to be greater with a uniform rain pattern. Regarding the morphological variables (leaf area and plant height), significant differences were found between the different treatments, being the treatment of 60 days of harvest and 200 kg N/ha/year the one that obtained the highest values (102 cm2 and 84 cm, respectively). It is concluded that the tree marigold (ecotype INTA-Quepos) is a plant with excellent potential for production in areas such as those of the present study, in addition, with a response to nitrogenous doses that improve characteristics of interest.
