| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | Two experiments were conducted on a three years'old macadamia orchard, planted at 7m x 7m, from may - December of 1989, at Pocora, Province of Limon, Costa Rica. Four doses of the herbicide glufosinate-ammonium were evaluated in the first trial. The following treatments were evaluated in the second assay: oxyfluorfen + glyphosate (0.5 + 0.6 kg/ha), terbutylazine + glyphosate (2.0 + 0.6 kg/ha), simazine + glyphosate (2.0 + 0.6 kg/ha), oxyfluorfen + glufosinateammonium (0.5 +0.6 kg/ha), terbutylazine + glufosinate-ammonium (2.0 + 0.6 kg/ha), simazine + glufosinate- ammonium (2.0 + 0.6 kg/ha), and free weed-growth and weeded controls. The herbicide applica- tion was performed as an aimed spray toward the weeds. None of the tested herbicides caused toxicity to the macadamia, neither affected the tree height. Digitaria decumbens was the most prevalent weed out of the 23 genera present in the experiment. The treatments which best controlled gramineous weeds included glyphosate. The herbicides oxifluorfen at the rate of 0.5 kg/ha or simazine at 2 kg/ha, mixed with glyphosate at 0.6 kg/ha, gave the best overall weed control. The glufosinate-ammonium at the tested rates was not effective in controlling weeds. | en_US |
