The framework for this research is the Public Communication of Science, specifically, the scientific journalism field, and with the support of the learning and memory theories. One of the challenges in this field is to evaluate the actions implemented, so that there is a continuous improvement that links professional practices with the social appropriation of knowledge. In this regard, the study aims to measure the effect that reading science reports have on the human memory, looking at the information retrieval. The research was realized with 10 students and 12 university teachers, who were divided into two subgroups for each type; each group was asked to read an informative or an interpretative report. From this single reading, all subjects answered the same questionnaire. This was repeated one week later. Some of the results showed that the information group readers remembered more in the initial test than those of the interpretative one, but they also had greater decay in the posttest; all subjects showed a better recall of the context given by the narrative rather than the specific facts; intrusions were detected within the memories; re-telling what was remembered had little success and recognition by association was outperformed by identifying.es_ES
