Abstract
El presente trabajo estudia el discurso existente en
dos clips televisivos de La Media Docena, en los
cuales figura el personaje Maikol Yordan Soto
Sibaja, quien personifica a un campesino costarricense,
con el fin de comprender las representaciones
e implicaciones discursivas que conlleva la
representación del campesino y además, realizar
una lectura de las perspectivas y las percepciones
de un grupo de estudiantes de Comunicación
Colectiva sobre la película.
Se realizó un análisis cualitativo dividido en dos
técnicas de investigación, primero se realizó un
estudio del discurso utilizando dos audiovisuales:
“Maikol Yordan Banco” y “Maikol Yordan Farmacia”;
luego se generó un grupo focal con estudiantes
de tercer y cuarto año de la carrera de
Ciencias de la Comunicación Colectiva de la
Universidad de Costa Rica para entender las perspectivas
y percepciones de este grupo de personas
sobre la representación campesina en el
personaje de estudio.
El discurso implícito y explícito presente en el
personaje Maikol Yordan es variado y puede analizarse
de manera distinta y aunque hay una
división entre los estereotipos maximizados del
campesino y la identidad de “tonto” que presenta
el personaje, se concluyó que mediante el
personaje de Maikol Yordan, se difunde un discurso
que coloca al campesino en una situación en
desventaja en relación a aquel que vive en la
ciudad, al que se muestra como que es más bien
inteligente, y educado por expresarse de forma
más fluida y correcta que este.
This document studies the existent discourse in two clips of the television show by “La Media Docena” which stars “Maikol Yordan Soto”, who personifies the costa rican countryman, in order to comprehend the discourse implications that the costa rican countryman representation conveys, as well as its social effect; and also to make a reading of a group of Collective Communication students’ perspective about the movie. A double focused qualitative analysis was executed in order to measure Maikol Yordan’s representation in its own videos and the social impact of that representation. For the object analysis study two clips were used: “Maikol Yordan Banco” and “Maikol Yordan Farmacia”. Also, a focus group with Universidad de Costa Rica students in their third and fourth year of their majoring in Communication and Media Sciences was executed to understand the social effect in the countryman’s representation in the studied character. The implicit and explicit speech in Maikol Yordan as a character is pretty varied and can be analyzed in distinctive ways; even though there’s a division between the countryman’s maximized stereotypes and the “stupid” identity that the character develops, it is concluded that Maikol Yordan’s character spreads a speech that leaves the costarican countryman in a position of disadvantage in relation of people who lives in the city, portrayed as smarter and more studied for expressing more correctly than the first one.
