La pérdida de cabello por cicatrices secundarias a traumatismo es una secuela que muchas veces se toma a la ligera por los cirujanos reconstructivos, dejando a muchos pacientes sin la oportunidad de mejorar su aspecto, con técnicas que ofrecen mucha mejoría a cambio de poca morbilidad.

Muchos cirujanos plásticos miran con recelo el trasplante de cabello porque se le considera un procedimiento fácil de dominar, o que puede ser muy aburrido y tedioso.

La restauración del cabello, cuando se domina, puede ser un procedimiento extremadamente gratificante tanto para el paciente como para el cirujano.

El trasplante capilar ha avanzado notablemente desde la época pasada, llevándonos a los injertos de unidades foliculares a ser una herramienta eficaz y cada vez mas especializada en disminuir el tiempo operatorio y mejoría de los resultados.
