Prensa y Revolución. La cobertura de La Información y La Prensa Libre de la Revolución Rusa, 1917

Abstract

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la manera cómo la prensa costarricense, especialmente los dos diarios más importantes La Información y La Prensa Libre, dieron una cobertura a la Revolución Rusa durante 1917. Se plantea que la manera de informar fue diferente si se contrasta la experiencia de febrero con la de octubre, teniendo presente que, para la prensa, la primera representó una revolución democrática mientras que en octubre se promovió el desorden y la anarquía. Asimismo, es preciso tener presente que, sobre Rusia, en comparación con otros escenarios de la Primera Guerra Mundial, la información que se disponía era menor, siendo esta tomada en cuenta cuando su participación peligraba en la lucha contra Alemania y las otras potencias centrales.

The objective of this paper is to analyze how the Costa Rican press, especially the two most important newspapers La Información and La Prensa Libre, gave coverage to the Russian Revolution during 1917. It is suggested that the way of reporting was different if the experience of February with October, bearing in mind that for the press, the first represented a democratic revolution while in October disorder and anarchy were promoted. Likewise, it is necessary to keep in mind that on Russia, compared to other scenarios of the First World War, the information that was available was smaller, this being taken into account when their participation was in danger in the fight against Germany and the other central powers.
