An experiment was conducted, from March 1992 to January 1993 at the Fabio Baudrit Experiment Station of the University of Costa Rica, to evaluate the relationship between the length, diameter, fruit lenght/diameter, sponge and seed yields of four introductions (UNA-003, UNA-010, UNA-089 and UNA-116) released by the Genetic Laboratory of the Universidad Nacional. A Complete Randomized block design with four replications was used. They were planted at 1.5 m between rows and at 5 m between plants. A training system was raised with 3 m high poles, set at 3 m apart. A plastic string was fastened at 60 cm and wire threads at 120 and 180 cm high. The results showed that the highest weight and number of sponges was obtained at 210 days after planting. The UNA-003 and UNA-010 produced the largest number and highest weight during the whole harvesting season, but of a smaller size. The UNA-089 and UNA-116 produced the lesser number of sponges, but the largest in lenght and diameter. There was a positive correlation of the individual average weight of one sponge with respect to its lenght and diameter. The number of sponges varied from 9 to 44 at 210 days. On this same period, the UNA-003 and UNA-010 introductions showed the largest number of seeds and the total number of seeds per plant varied between 2663 and 9080 units.
