Forty six promising bean lines from the meso-american and andean races were evaluated, in three localities with different disease incidences: Puriscal (anthracnose), Esparza (web-blight) and Alajuela (maximum yield potential and low incidence of the bean golden mosaic virus - BGMV). A triple lattice design with three replications was used in Alajuela and Esparza, and with one replication in Puriscal. The lines showing intermediate resistance to anthracnose and web-blight were: MAN-4, XAN-105, RAB-94, AFR-392, ARA-5, A-649 and A-321. The highest yielding lines in Esparza and Puriscal were: RAB-94, AFR-392 and XAN-105. The line RAB-94 was the only one to produce high yields at the three tested localities. All lines showed symptoms of BGMV.
