Four phenomena are analyzed that can enlarge the sea level, like climatic change, the El Niño phenomenon, wave setup and astronomical tides. This study was carried out from models, observations and measurements performed in field presenting a sea level for each phenomenon that can be superimposed. It’s use real or hypothetical settings to simulate the behavior of the sea level in the next 100 years in the tip of Puntarenas. The astronomical tide levels are based on tidal predictions. The increase of the sea level in the next years by global warning is according to the settings of the IPCC (2007, 21), and observations made during the El Niño phenomenon of 1997-98 in Costa Rica, are used to create the different combinations and generate the mareographic levels. The results show the possible flood levels in Puntarenas City in the next years. A hypothetical combination of extreme mareographic levels shows that Puntarenas could be flooded completely in some moment. This study intends to alert to the governmental institutions on these settings in Puntarenas so that they take the corresponding decisions in an imminent sea level change. Combinations of sea level are proposed in such a way that other mareographic components not include in this study, like tsunamis, can be simulated also and help to takes decisions before these possible events.es_ES
